"That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors, so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known." Mock the Bird

To anyone who reads (this): What happened to Mock the Bird?

The last post was in pre-election October by (the other) Kevin. What about the remainder of the students who contributed to this digital publication -- a publication that had the potential to blow any student paper out of the water? Where have they gone? Do they care? Do you care?

Sadly, I guess potential is just one big hustle.

Still, your publication has the potential to tackle the stuff that college students are really interested in. You could have turned MTB into a cutting-edge, probative publication -- less the fear from the paranoid, uptight, risk-averse eyes of college suits. Rumor has it that you had them worried last year; the Suits want happy student publications, happy publications that follow the school's line.

C'mon. You have -- yes, have -- the opportunity to make a difference, a cool, significant difference, by young college writers who have the guts to report important news to young college students, not like the College PR stuff that spins and spins and spins ad nauseam.

Please don't argue in defense with that old, sad mantra I so often have heard, "We're only community college students." Seems to me that language like that limits your possibilities significantly.

Become unlimited.

Peace.
